Extending the Reach of Your Flight Department Team
What is the GA Desk?
Since August 2001, NBAA has staffed a full-time General Aviation Desk at the FAA Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC). These GA Desk specialists act as business aviation representatives and participate in both real-time national airspace flow-control and decision-making as well as long-term strategic planning in the join FAA/industry Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) Workgroup.
The GA Desk’s mission is to afford a voice for equitable representation of business aviation in the planning and execution of the daily strategic plan of operations for the National Airspace System (NAS), to ensure equity in airspace allocation and participation in traffic management initiatives.
While the GA Desk staff represents the general interests of NBAA Members as part of their dues, the specific services described on this page are available only on a subscription basis to NBAA Members to address subscriber-specific issues in the NAS.
What are the benefits of a GA Desk subscription?
The GA Desk Gets Results
The GA Desk has front-line access to real-time information, such as:- Anticipated en route and terminal weather constraints
- Reroute advisories and affected flights
- NAS delays
- Airway facility inspections, outages and flight checks
- Traffic management initiatives
- NOTAMs and TFRs
- AROs/STMPs
- Security-related events with NAS/customer impact
The GA Desk staff analyzes the information and provides real-time updates to facilitate the subscribers’ needs. Subscriber-provided information is used to determine NAS peak times and trends for the business aviation community for better NAS planning.
The ATCSCC Gets Results
When the ATCSCC can accurately forecast NAS capacity to include GA customers, then it can react with the appropriate initiatives that are best for everyone’s operations – scheduled and unscheduled operators alike. This integration of scheduled and unscheduled demand will provide for an equitable distribution of available resources. Pro-activity equals predictability equals equity!
