The Access Committee focuses on NBAA Member access to the National Airspace System (NAS), to the national system of U.S. airports and to political processes at the local level that affect business aviation.
Destination Statement
- To advocate for business aviation’s access to airports and airspace
- To educate NBAA Members on the equipage and training necessary to optimize the use of business aircraft in the NAS
- To engage local communities’ business and political leadership on the local and regional benefits of business aviation, as well as the economic value of business aviation and their regional airports

Information & Resources
FAA Systems Operations Feedback – FAA System Operations is part of the re-organized FAA Air Traffic Organization
(ATO) and is responsible for the day-to-day tactical execution of National Airspace System (NAS) operations. A resource available to the flying public
is the FAA Systems Operations Directors of Tactical Operations (DTO). There are five DTOs each responsible for specific geographic areas of the NAS. The
DTOs are interested in hearing from NBAA Members on tactical issues where Members feel ATC services were above average or where ATC service was not adequate.
NBAA GA Desk – The General Aviation (GA) Desk is an NBAA Member service that places NBAA employees
at the FAA Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC). The GA Desk was created to relay real-time information to subscribers on the constantly
changing conditions in the National Airspace System (NAS). This information includes weather reroutes and traffic management programs, such as ground
stops, ground delays and miles-in-trail restrictions.
National Airspace System Status Briefing – The NBAA National Airspace System Status Briefing (NASSB) is a user-friendly, web-based product that provides valuable, real-time information for business aviation operators. Available only to NBAA Members for a subscription fee, the NASSB was developed by the NBAA GA Desk at the FAA ATCSCC. The product gives Members an instant snapshot of domestic ATC traffic management initiatives and restrictions, enabling them to quickly generate bulletins that can assist in making operations in the national airspace more manageable and efficient.
Airspace Alerts E-mail Subscriber List – NBAA has created a new Airspace Alerts e-mail list to provide a single source for distributing information about upcoming TFRs and other airspace issues considered to have a significant impact on NBAA Member flight operations.
Airports in Focus – These web-based reports provide snapshots of key airports for business aviation. Local airport planning and development, rules and regulations, and even potential or existing access issues represent topics reviewable by NBAA.
NBAA Airports Handbook – The purpose of this newly revised NBAA publication is to provide information about our national system of airports and to present Members with the tools needed to preserve and extract the most benefit from them. As dialogue between business aviation airport stakeholders and community residents takes on an increased importance, NBAA Members can use this valuable product to show that airports are important national and community assets because they provide significant transportation and economic benefits. The printed booklet includes a copy of the NBAA DVD titled Your Community Airport. For more information, contact publications@nbaa.org.
NBAA DVD: "Your Community Airport" – As we know, business aviation airports operate quietly in most places, but they can be a source
of contentious debate in some communities, where noise and other quality-of-life issues come into play. As an aggressive advocate for business aviation,
NBAA has long been involved in issues affecting the relationship between regional airports and the communities around them. Getting regional airport
stakeholders to consider establishing a "dialogue" about business aviation airports is the basis for this video product.
Regional Business Aviation Groups Directory – Regional business aviation organizations facilitate both regional
and nationwide communication among business aviation professionals. This web-based directory provides information on many regional groups, including
scheduler and dispatcher groups.
NBAA Guidelines for Regional Business Aviation Organizations – Updated in 2006, this NBAA
publication is designed to guide the creation of new regional business aviation organizations, and to help existing regional groups improve procedures
and grow (PDF 1.2 MB).
Regional Business Aviation Groups Library – Among their many benefits, regional business aviation groups offer events and programs that foster communication with local communities about the importance of airports and of business aviation. This resource web page contains documents and sample templates to help guide your regional group in creating its own career fair, safety day, scholarship program or other event.
