Description
The Maintenance Committee's purpose is to address the high level strategic issues pertinent
to the maintenance operations of NBAA Member Companies. Issues are examined and deemed applicable
if they affect or will affect the majority of Member Companies. The Committee uses as its
primary source the input from the Committee members, the Technical Committee, Safety Committee,
Board of Directors and the Membership. The Committee has oversight of the Maintenance Management
Conference and the Maintenance Scholarship Program. NBAA Members can forward questions, comments
or suggestions to the Committee Chairman or the NBAA Staff Liaison.

NBAA Maintenance Management Conference – The NBAA Maintenance Management Conference is business aviation’s single dedicated event for individuals involved in aircraft and facility management. This Conference benefits anyone involved in aircraft maintenance, hangar facility management, or personnel supervision. Attendees receive best practices guidelines and strategies for aircraft maintenance management, application of new technologies and the latest in regulatory changes and requirements, as well as leadership, management and interpersonal skills development. The NBAA Maintenance Committee is responsible for developing the agenda and program for the annual Maintenance Management Conference. Training & Advance Education Subcommittee — The Training Subcommittee facilitates and monitors the activities of OEMs and training providers in relation to the recommendations set forth by the NBAA Maintenance Committee. The Subcommittee's current initiative is to address specific training for aircraft, engines and avionics through training guidelines and specifications for corporate and business aviation. The Training Advance Education subcommittee looks to find solutions to the aviation maintenance personnel needs through its “Project Bootstrap”, a career development path and advance certification effort.
NBAA Quick Turns — NBAA Quick Turns is the Association's subscription-based electronic newsletter dedicated to the promotion of corporate aviation maintenance practices and safety. Published several times a year, it provides a means of communicating relevant information for enhancing the maintenance professional's effectiveness within the corporate flight department. Business Aircraft Maintenance Air Mail
NBAA Air Mail is a series of e-mail mailing lists, or "users groups," set aside
for collaboration and discussion on topics of interest to business aircraft operators. This
list was established for the discussion of maintenance issues.
Maintenance Technical Reward and Career Scholarship (Maintenance TRACS)
The NBAA Maintenance Committee is dedicated to promoting technical education and professional development as a means for corporate maintenance technicians to enhance their careers. To support this position, NBAA has created the Maintenance Technical Reward and Career Scholarship (Maintenance TRACS), which offers current and aspiring maintenance technicians the opportunity to receive training courses for several aircraft and engine models, as well as professional development courses.
William M. Fanning Maintenance
Scholarship — NBAA annually awards two $2,500 scholarships
to applicants who are pursuing careers as maintenance technicians. One
award benefits a student who currently is enrolled in an accredited airframe & powerplant
(A&P) program at an approved FAR Part 147 school. The second award
benefits an individual who currently is not enrolled but has been accepted
for enrollment in an A&P program. The scholarship was named in honor
of now-retired NBAA Staffer William M. Fanning who was active in maintenance
issues during his nearly 20-year tenure at NBAA.

- Introduced the NBAA Technical Rewards Aviation Careers Scholarship (TRACS) to benefit NBAA member maintenance personnel in professional development
- Through the efforts of the Reliability & Maintenance Programs Subcommittee, and members of Forum for Enhanced Reliability and Maintainability Standards (FERMS), developed definitions and formulas for aircraft dispatch reliability and operational availability in FERMS web application program
- FERMS a web based application for the purpose of data collection and exchange.
- Revised the maintenance operations section of the NBAA Management Guide in light of the new International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) and provided NBAA Members with news about maintenance and operations issues through NBAA publications
