NBAA’s 59th Annual Meeting & Convention Breaks a Number of Records
October 19, 2006
NBAA's 59th Annual Meeting & Convention in Orlando was the biggest and best in the Association’s history, breaking attendance records and selling out exhibit space earlier than ever before. At the close of the three-day event, the attendance total was 33,088, which was a 14-percent increase over the final total for 2005, also in Orlando, and higher than the previous record of 31,665 set in Las Vegas in 1998. Safety Maximized When Industry, Regulators Cooperate

NBAA2006 Sets Convention Attendance Record on Second Day

Attendance at NBAA2006 reached 31,919 by midday on the second day of the show. This second-day total is already more than 10 percent higher than the final, three-day total for the 2005 show, also held in Orlando, and it surpasses the previous attendance record for the show, which was 31,665 in Las Vegas in 1998. NBAA Convention Opens With World-Class Speakers

The NBAA 59th Annual Meeting & Convention opened this morning with an Opening General Session featuring three keynoters with world-class credentials in business and aviation: Gerald L. Shaheen, chairman of the Board of Directors, U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Marion C. Blakey, administrator of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); and Arnold Palmer, the golf legend who is also an accomplished businessman and supporter of business aviation. Business Aviation Needs to Fight User Fees to Ensure Industry Stability

The NBAA 59th Annual Meeting & Convention is one of the biggest and best ever. A total of 115 aircraft are on the Static Display at Orlando Executive Airport, 11 more aircraft are on the floor of the Orange County Convention Center and, for the first time, the entire exhibit area was sold out weeks in advance of the show. However, NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen warned Monday that despite business aviation’s current vitality, the community needs to be actively involved in countering an imminent threat – user fees. Session to Cover Business Continuity Planning for Avian Flu Threat

NBAA is offering a new Information Session at its 59th Annual Meeting & Convention in Orlando, titled Maintaining Business Continuity to Address Avian Flu. "Preparedness in the face of the unexpected is always important a priority for the business aviation community, and as a result, we felt it was important to provide Members with the latest information and resources on the avian flu public health threat," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. "We have assembled a panel of experts to assist our Members and their companies in better understanding the best practices for protecting their employees and their businesses."
