Help NBAA Build a Park in Atlanta

Sunday, September 23, 2007
NBAA is celebrating it 60th anniversary and the Georgia Centennial of Flight in a really big way. To help build bridges with the local community surrounding the airport, We’re building an aviation-themed playground for the children of Atlanta!
In conjunction with The Home Depot and KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization that envisions a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America, NBAA will build a playground for the host city of NBAA2007.
The park location has been identified. The plans are in motion. Now, we need volunteers – about 400 of them, to be exact.
Playground Build Day at NBAA2007
Sunday, September 23
9:30 am - 4:00 pm
So, please mark your calendar and volunteer to help make this playground
a reality. And, you’ll end your day knowing that you contributed to making the neighborhood
better for Atlanta’s youth by giving them a place to play.
Registration
Thank you very much for your interest in volunteering for the NBAA2007 Build project. Due to overwhelming response, we have reached the capacity for the number of volunteers required to complete the playground. As such, we can no longer accept registrations for volunteers for the Playground Build.
Please contact NBAA2007volunteers@nbaa.org if you have further questions.

General Information for Kaboom Volunteers
- We’re expecting nearly 500 volunteers and 200 students on site.
- This is KaBOOM!’s largest playground build to date.
- Please wear clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty – shorts or long pants, close-toed shoes (sneakers or light hiking boots are fine)
- Be prepared for the weather. It’s likely to be warm in Atlanta in September.
- We’ll have sunscreen for you and Dassault Falcon Jet is providing hats.
- The Build goes on rain or shine. If it rains, you may wish to have a windbreaker or light rain jacket.
- Please limit your personal items that you take with you to the build site. There won’t be storage facilities on site and it will be an active site. So, try to leave your bags/purses/backpacks behind. And plan to keep your cell phone and keys on your person.
- All tools and gloves are provided.
- Please don’t wear anything that hangs from your neck.
- All food and drinks for the day will be provided. We’ve had tremendous support – take a look online at our list of Sponsors.
- Please be sure to drink lots of fluids throughout the day.
- We’ll have a full-staffed First Aid station (just in case).
- You’ll be assigned to a team for the day – and your team may be assigned to anything from building a swing set to helping repaint a mural on the blacktop. You’ll find out more on Build Day.
- In addition to building this truly fantastic playground, NBAA Volunteers are also building an Airport Viewing Area at Fulton County Airport.

Getting to the Build Site
BAA has arranged for shuttle buses to take Volunteers from the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) Lobby C entrance to the School. When you arrive at the GWCC, pick up your Build T-Shirt and a Volunteer Waiver. Buses will begin at 8:00 am.
Due to the limited amount of parking on site at the school, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of these shuttles.
Build Day Registration
When you get to the school, hand in your Volunteer Waiver form, proceed to Registration to get your name tag and then get some breakfast. You’ll need energy for the day’s work.
Build Kick-Off
The Build officially begins at 9:30 am. So, all Volunteers will need to be on site and completely registered prior to 9:30.
We anticipate finishing the entire playground by 4:00 pm.
For more information, e-mail NBAA2007volunteers@nbaa.org.
All volunteers for the KaBOOM! Playground project must be age 16 or older.
