The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued procedures to enhance safety during the week of the NBAA 60th Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2007) in Atlanta, GA. Media Alert: NBAA 60th Annual Meeting & Convention, Sept. 22–29
September 21, 2007

NBAA will hold its 60th Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2007) and related activities in Atlanta, GA, from September 22 through 29. The event will celebrate the 60th anniversary of NBAA as well as Georgia's centennial of flight, which commemorates the state's first flight by Ben T. Epps in Athens. NBAA2007 will bring to Atlanta more than 30,000 Attendees and approximately 115 business aircraft by some of the leading aviation manufacturers. The Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) will host the exhibition hall and seminars, and Fulton County Airport will host the NBAA Static Display of Aircraft. A replica of Georgia’s first aircraft, a monoplane built by Epps in 1907, will be suspended over a Georgia Centennial of Flight Welcome Center display in the GWCC Hall C Atrium to greet visitors. Media Alert: Commemorative Flight to Land at Atlanta’s DeKalb-Peachtree Airport

Members of the media are advised of an interview and photo opportunities with leaders in general aviation on Saturday, September 22. General aviation leaders will fly together from New York, the site of the first meeting of NBAA in 1947, to Atlanta, the site of this year’s NBAA 60th Annual Meeting & Convention. Aviators representing the general aviation community’s storied past, its modern-day present and its visionary future will make the flight aboard a very light jet (VLJ). All aboard will be available for photos and interviews – an opportunity to speak with each before the Convention gets underway. The National Aeronautic Association is expected to record the flight as the first record set in its newly established VLJ class. More.

NBAA2007 Opening General Session Only One Week Away

NBAA's biggest Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2007) yet kicks off next week on September 25 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA. Department of Transportation Secretary Mary Peters will begin the three-day event with a keynote address, followed by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue. Hotel accommodations have sold out in advance, and more exhibit booth space than ever before has been reserved, making NBAA2007 the largest show ever produced. Veterans Airlift to Receive Al Ueltschi Award for Humanitarian Leadership

NBAA has announced that the Veterans Airlift Command will be presented with the NBAA Al Ueltschi Humanitarian Award in recognition of the organization's work to provide flights for wounded soldiers, veterans and their families. "The generosity of the aircraft owners, pilots and others affiliated with Veterans Airlift Command epitomizes the sense of community and service that NBAA recognizes with the Ueltschi Humanitarian Award," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. Over 500 Volunteers Enlisted to Help NBAA and KaBOOM! Build Atlanta Playground

In conjunction with NBAA's 60th Annual Meeting & Convention, the Association has partnered with national non-profit organization KaBOOM!, The Home Depot, several area businesses and the local community around Fulton County Airport-Brown Field (FTY) to build an aviation-themed playground at Fain Elementary School in Atlanta. Over 500 volunteers will be on-hand for KaBOOM!'s biggest park build ever on Sunday, September 23, and once completed, the park will cover 7,400 square feet – an area large enough to park 50 cars. The park also will feature an outdoor classroom with benches and chalkboards, an airplane-shaped sandbox and a community garden. More.

Convention Housing and Exhibit Space Sells Out Making NBAA2007 Biggest Yet

Housing and exhibit space for NBAA's 60th Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2007) has officially sold out. Atlanta-area accommodations report 41,300 reservations have been made around the Convention dates from September 25 to 27. Although it is too early to confirm attendance numbers, the record-breaking reservation count indicates that this year's event may be the most attended yet. In addition, more booth space has been purchased than ever before, making NBAA2007 the Association's largest production in history. NBAA housing and travel resources are still available however to help Attendees find last-minute openings, or to arrange transportation to and from the airport. NBAA to Honor Rick Hale, Richard Shine With American Spirit Awards

NBAA has announced the recipients of its 2007 American Spirit Award, which recognizes individuals within the business aviation industry who exemplify excellence and service to others. Rick Hale, president and CEO of NBAA Member Company Winner Aviation, and Richard Shine, CEO of NBAA Member Company Manitoba Recycling, will receive this award for representing business aviation before Congress. "NBAA is honored to recognize Rick Hale and Richard Shine for illustrating for members of Congress what business aviation is all about and for explaining to Congress the real impact of user fees on small and mid-sized businesses across the country," NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen said. NBAA to Honor Flying Safety Award Recipients at Convention

NBAA recently announced the recipients of the Association's 2007 Flying Safety Awards Program, who will be formally recognized during NBAA's Convention. "NBAA is pleased to recognize these businesses for their continuing commitment to the safety of flight, which is at the very foundation of our industry," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. Park Build in Atlanta to Be Biggest KaBOOM! Project Yet

KaBOOM! – a national non-profit that designs and orchestrates playground projects around the country – has reported that the aviation-themed playground it will build with NBAA at Fain Elementary School in Atlanta, GA will be its biggest ever. The organization has partnered with NBAA, The Home Depot and the local community around Fulton County Airport-Brown Field (FTY) to construct the park on Sunday, September 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., in conjunction with NBAA2007. Many local businesses also are lending their support but volunteers are still needed, and NBAA is calling on Members and volunteers to sign up. To become a volunteer, register online.

On Tuesday, September 25, NBAA will award several business aviation leaders and professionals with the Association's highest honors. Bryan Moss, president emeritus of Gulfstream, will receive the Meritorious Service to Aviation Award for industry contributions, and Patrick Epps, founder of Epps Aviation, will receive the John P. "Jack" Doswell Award for lifelong achievement in business aviation. Rick Hale, president and CEO, Winner Aviation, and Richard Shine, CEO, Manitoba Recycling, will be presented with the American Spirit Award for their support of business aviation and NBAA. Convention Will Feature Regional Groups Networking Session

Attendees at NBAA's 60th Annual Meeting & Convention in Atlanta, GA, are invited to visit the Local/Regional Business Aviation Association Networking Session from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, where participants can learn about regional business aviation groups and how they benefit airports and communities. 16th Annual Tax, Regulatory & Risk Management Conference at NBAA2007

This year's Tax, Regulatory & Risk Management Conference will be held September 23 through 24, in conjunction with NBAA's Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2007) in Atlanta, GA. The Conference will cover essential elements of the current business aviation tax, regulatory and risk management environment, including the Internal Revenue Service's new proposed regulations on the certain non-business uses of aircraft. Hundreds Needed to Help NBAA Build a Playground in Atlanta
To commemorate its 60th anniversary and the Georgia centennial of flight, NBAA is partnering with several organizations to build an aviation-themed playground for the children of Atlanta, host city of NBAA2007. KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization that envisions a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America, will design and orchestrate the build. The Home Depot and members of the local community also will lend their support to construct the playground. The project will take place on Sunday, September 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will need 500 volunteers. NBAA is calling on Members, their coworkers and customers for help. Registration Open for NBAA2007 Professional Development Workshops

Those planning to attend the NBAA 60th Annual Meeting & Convention also may register for pre- and post-Convention Professional Development Workshops. Among the two-day Workshops offered is the Emergency Response Planning Workshop, designed to help companies prepare and update emergency plans to effectively respond to an aviation-related crisis. The Management Fundamentals for Flight Departments Workshop will provide department managers with key information about safe operations, regulatory compliance and basic management practices, and with tools for daily flight management. Aviation department personnel may be interested in attending the Human Factors in Business Aviation Workshop, designed to increase professionalism and safety through communication and leadership tactics. NBAA to Honor Moss and Epps During Convention in Atlanta

The NBAA Board of Directors has selected Bryan T. Moss, president emeritus of Gulfstream Aerospace, as the recipient of the 2007 NBAA Award for Meritorious Service to Aviation, and E. NBAA Accepting Donations for 3rd Annual Benefit Auctions

NBAA will hold its 3rd Annual Benefit Auctions this year during the 60th Annual Meeting & Convention. The Benefit Auctions will support NBAA Charities, a charitable fund established to provide support to worthy causes in the business aviation community. NBAA is now accepting donations for both the Live and Silent Auctions. The Live Auction will be held during the NBAA Benefit Gala on the evening of September 26. In support of NBAA Charities, this year's Benefit Gala will take place on Wednesday, September 26, the second day of NBAA's 60th Annual Meeting & Convention, in the Murphy Ballroom of the Georgia World Congress Center. Commemorative Flight Set for NBAA's 60th Anniversary

NBAA's 60th Annual Meeting & Convention activities will include a commemorative flight on Saturday, September 22, from New York, the site of NBAA's first meeting in 1947, to Atlanta, the site of this year's Convention. The flight will mark both NBAA's 60th anniversary and Georgia's centennial of flight. NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen will be joined by two widely recognized figures in the general aviation community: Pat Epps of Atlanta-based Epps Aviation and Jamail Larkins, a Georgia resident made famous for obtaining his pilot's license at 14. NBAA Convention Ranks in Top 10 of U.S. Trade Shows

The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention has risen to eighth place in the ranking of largest U.S. trade shows based on square footage occupied by exhibits in 2006, according to Tradeshow Week 200. The NBAA 11th Annual Chairman's Charity Classic Golf Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, September 23 at the Stone Mountain Golf Club in Stone Mountain, GA. NBAA Opens 2007 Convention to Students and Local Business Aviation

NBAA2007 to Include Construction of Aviation-Themed Playground

NBAA is looking for volunteers among Members who are planning to attend the Association's 60th Annual Meeting & Convention to help with an exciting community project. NBAA has partnered with Home Depot and non-profit organization KaBOOM! to construct an aviation-themed playground near Atlanta's Fulton County Airport. Atlanta will serve as the host city for NBAA2007 from September 25 to 27. Construction is scheduled for Sunday, September 23, two days before the opening of the Convention. KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit group, will design and oversee the project using their "community-build model" to bring business and community interests together. Approximately 400 NBAA volunteers are expected on construction day, but more volunteers are needed. More.

NBAA2007 to Celebrate Several Industry Milestones

NBAA Announces Atlanta Local Committee for 60th Annual Meeting & Convention

NBAA has announced the formation of an Atlanta Local Committee in preparation for NBAA's 60th Annual Meeting & Convention. The Association will celebrate its 60th anniversary at the NBAA 60th Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2007), to be held September 25 through 27 in Atlanta, GA. NBAA2007 also will help commemorate other industry milestones, including the 100th anniversary of powered flight in Georgia and the 40th anniversary of Gulfstream. The 2007 Convention will continue to build on the enormous successes of NBAA2006, which broke numerous records, with 33,088 Attendees, 1,140 Exhibitors, 5,235 10-foot by 10-foot booth spaces and more than 100 Information Sessions.
