NBAA Member Snapshots
Chestnut Ridge Foam, Inc.
This employee-owned Latrobe, PA, manufacturer has attended the NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention since 1986, said Lee Danovitz, sales manager for aircraft applications. “We were the first U.S. manufacturer of highly fire resistant foam cushions,” he said. At the time, in 1987, there was one other maker, in Germany. “At the beginning, we had lines at the booth,” said Carl Ogburn, executive vice president. Chestnut Ridge’s 150 employee-owners are enjoying steady growth at its single facility. Today, it makes a variety of specialized foam products for the healthcare and transport industries, including bus, rail, naval and maritime. Chestnut Ridge provides a newer generation of its breakthrough fire resistant materials, with an in-house FAA-certified DER (designated engineering representative) and two DMIRs (designated manufacturing inspection representatives). “This is still our premier show for general aviation,” Ogburn said. “We’re adding new customers every year” with the help of NBAA-generated leads, this year at Booth 2745.
