Safety Spotlight: Procedural Intentional Non-Compliance and Your Safety Culture

Everyone knows the rules. We have been taught, practiced and followed the rules (on occasion!) since we have been flying. But on other occasions we decide to break the rules and rationalize our doing so. We have a motivation, an idea that we can get away with it, and no one says we should not break the rules. We do it every day.

This presentation will focus on this universal and uncomfortable problem; describe it, explain it, and give some practical ways to combat it in your organization. It will provoke a lively discussion and may help employees focus on a real safety issue that dramatically affects their company safety culture.

Presented by Roger Baker, Safety Focus Group
