Don’t miss the next NBAA Business Aviation Regional Forum, coming to Scottsdale, AZ, on January 25, 2007, at Scottsdale Airport (SDL).

The NBAA Business Aviation Regional Forum is a day-long learning and networking experience designed to meet the needs of the regional business aviation community, and to provide an introduction to local business leaders interested in learning more about business aviation. The Scottsdale Forum will feature approximately 30 aircraft on Static Display, 60 indoor Exhibitors and hundreds of Attendees. This event also will feature a number of briefings for the business aviation community in Arizona and surrounding states.

This Regional Forum will be held in conjunction with an NBAA Regulatory Hot Topics Forum on January 26. Learn more.

Aircraft Ownership Choices and Regulatory Restrictions

Speakers: John Copley, Garofalo Goerlich Hainbach, PC

IThe presentation will discuss the different regulatory regimes applicable to various types of ownership, beginning with whole aircraft ownership and proceeding through fractional ownership programs, including travel card programs, shared ownership programs, and ending with non-ownership charter transportation.  Each type of ownership option will be analyzed and compared with regard to operational flexibility and operational limitations. Specific operational issues addressed will include the applicability of FAR Part 91 and FAR Part 135 and the limitations and advantages of each regulatory regime, such as the ability to collect compensation from related and unrelated entities for use of aircraft, restrictions as to flight and duty time of the pilots, weather restrictions, and restriction for international operations.

Improving Tomorrow’s Safety Record by Learning from the Past

Speaker: Bob Breiling, Bob Breiling & Associates; Doug Carr, NBAA

This presentation will highlight important business aviation safety initiatives and how flight departments of all sizes can proactively address safety matters. Operators will also receive an update on the latest business aviation safety statistics and accident trends.

FAA’s Operational Control (A008) Initiative – Tax and Regulatory Consequences

Speaker: Nel Sanders-Stubbs, Conklin & de Decker; Lori Edwards, Jackson, Wade & Blanck, LLC; Alvaro Pascotto, Morrison & Foerster, LLP

Whenever any agency changes or modifies their regulations or guidance there can, and usually is, an impact on the application of other rules and regulations. The revised Operations Specification A008 is no different.

This Session will show what the tax consequences could be for the owner, such as Federal Excise Taxes applying to the owners flight, loss of possession, command and control. Loss of depreciation benefits because of passive activity loss rules. There could be some positive tax implications with the states.

Admission to the Forum is $50 for NBAA Members and $75 for Non-Members.

NBAA Regional Forum Policies

Registration cancellation must be received no later than 10 calendar days prior to the event. Refunds will be granted less a $15 processing fee.

Children under 12 are never admitted on the Exhibit floor or at the Static Display of Aircraft. Children 12 to 18 will be permitted into the Exhibit hall and Static Display of Aircraft during official Exhibit hours only. Children 12 to 18 must register, pay appropriate fees and be accompanied by an adult. NBAA will not be held responsible by or for any cause whatsoever.

Any person who attends an NBAA Convention, Conference, Seminar, or other program grants permission to NBAA to use and publish his or her image or likeness collected in connection with the program for any usual and customary purpose of the NBAA, including advertisements for NBAA and its programs.
