Aircraft Transactions – Understanding the Participants and Their Responsibilities

Speakers: Jay Mesinger, J. Mesinger Corporate Aircraft Sale; Keith Swirsky, Galland, Kharash, Greenberg, Fellman & Swirsky

Whether you are buying or selling an aircraft, the transaction is a complex process. There are many people involved on both sides of a deal; and it is imperative that both buyers and sellers understand everyone’s roles and responsibilities. An aircraft broker often serves as your team leader or coach. In addition to your broker, there are principals, flight departments, attorneys, tax strategists, pre-buy inspection facilities, aircraft lenders, insurance agents and others involved. Both the buyers and sellers in any transaction have their own teams. If both the buyer and seller understand everyone’s roles and the process is carefully orchestrated, everyone involved will add significant value to the process. If participants’ roles are misunderstood or jobs are overlooked, then some processes will be duplicated and others missed – resulting in a difficult and frustrating process.

11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Lunch

1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

The Safety Management System (SMS): An Essential Tool for Aviation Departments Small and Large

Speaker: Pete Agur, The Van Allen Group

Yesterday, “safety” meant preventing accidents. Today, “safety” means assuring safe results through a comprehensive, organization-wide process called the Safety Management System (SMS). SMS is one of the key components required for a flight department to be IS-BAO registered, but it applies to all aviation operations, whether large or small – including both single aircraft and single pilot operations. This session will describe how SMS works, as well as practical approaches for its implementation. Time will be devoted to respond to Attendees’ individual questions and concerns.

Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of the value and benefits of SMS. They also will know how to get it started within their own flight operation.

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Case for Customer Service in Aviation

Speaker: Bob Hobbi, ServiceElements

Studies have shown that growth and profitability have a direct correlation to customer satisfaction ratings. And this is true in the aviation industry as well. This session will focus on the need to create a service culture for both the internal and external customers. Looking at the internal customer first, the presentation will review what today’s employees are looking for in their work environment and why so many of us are searching for new jobs. A service-focused culture may be what is required to create a cohesive and effective team that can move an organization forward, while providing a rewarding and satisfying workplace.

Using well-known and successful companies as case studies, a lively and interactive discussion will reveal exactly what today’s service culture is for the external customer. The presentation will look back in history and see how customers have evolved from consumers of raw materials to consumers in the “experience” service economy. Businesses are discovering that the best way to differentiate one product or service from another is to provide a memorable experience for their customers.

3:30 pm – 5:30 pm Reception
4:00 pm Exhibits and Static Display Close
