Non-Business Use of Business Aircraft

Pandemic Planning: Are You Prepared?

Speaker: Patty Campbell, MedAire, Inc.

When John Smith, CEO of ABC Corp. and two of his colleagues experience fever and cough after visiting a manufacturing plant in Shanghai, they suspect a typical cold/flu. But after viewing television reports of a human-to-human outbreak of Avian influenza in the area, they – and their corporate pilot – are faced with tough decisions.

Should they seek a medical evaluation? Where? If they are infected, should the pilot travel with ill passengers and risk the aircraft being quarantined upon arrival in the U.S? When passengers-turned-patients step onto an aircraft, what is their expectation of medical care?

What would your company do in the event of a pandemic? How will you ensure the health and safety of your top executives? Who decides if ill executives are able to board a plane back to the U.S.? Does your company have a business continuity plan in place?

"The pandemic influenza clock is ticking,” says Ed Marcuse, a co-author of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Pandemic Influenza Preparedness and Response Advisory Plan. “We just don't know what time it is."

Influenza basics, risks to the aviation industry, governmental policies and business continuity planning will be among the topics discussed during this informative presentation.

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Crew Resource Management – the Reasonable Reliance Defense to FAA Enforcement Actions

Speaker: Greg Winton, Aviation Law Experts

FAA has initiated numerous investigations and enforcement actions against corporate flight crews, involving airspace violations. How can the NTSB view Crew Resource Management (CRM), when conducted in accordance with FAA Advisory Circular (AC) No. 120-51E and 120-71, in an enforcement action defense? What correct steps and actions must flight crews, management personnel, and aircraft operators follow to ensure proper CRM procedures?
