Pre-Owned Aircraft Sales: Straight Answers to Tough Questions
Susan Sheets, National Aircraft Resale Association (with selected NARA members as panelists)
Buying and selling business aircraft is a sophisticated process involving highly valued assets. Parties to any deal need professional representation, up-to-date product knowledge, an effective sales and marketing plan, accurate market intelligence, and an appropriate pricing strategy. Working through this process requires the review of aircraft records and specifications, handling maintenance related issues, identifying tax and legal matters and completing a thorough pre- and post- closing checklist.
This session, hosted by aircraft sales experts, is designed to answer the many questions intrinsic to aircraft sales transactions. Pre-purchase inspections alone can be a complicated process – from choosing the facility location to the resolution of discrepancies and return to service dates. Inspections for regulatory conformity cover yet another array of questions that professionals can best address. With the burgeoning growth of global markets, export and import requirements will be discussed, as well as compliance to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) inspections, where applicable.
Buyers of pre-owned aircraft are looking for value, price and immediate availability. Attend this panel discussion so that you are prepared to ensure that this promise is delivered to your clients. |

On-Demand Operations Under Part 135 and the “New” Air Taxi Business Models – Has Everything (or Nothing) Changed?
Speaker: Gerald Murphy, Crowell & Moring LLP
With the dawn of the very light jet, a new crop of enterprising operators, from DayJet, Linear Air and Pogo, to name a few, have sought to provide a new take on on-demand air taxi service conducted under Part 135 of the Federal Aviation Regulations. New business models combined with existing marketing practices —ranging from those based on per-seat sales, to so-called fractional charters, to the sale of empty legs —are appearing every day and may very well be here to stay. While the commitment of these entrepreneurs and investors to business aviation may certainly be welcome and refreshing, the regulations governing these operations, namely Parts 119 and 135 of FAA's Federal Aviation Regulations and Part 298 of DOT's Economic Regulations, have not been revised. This presentation will focus on the types of operations permitted under the existing regulations and exactly what type of additional authority, if any, is required, as well as the recent enforcement focus of both FAA and DOT in this area. |
