Waging a Global War on Error in Aviation Maintenance Operations
Tony Kern, Ed.D., Convergent Knowledge Solutions
Dr. Kern has put together a dynamic presentation on human error control based on the highly successful “Error Control Model” of the United States Marine Corp (see Aviation Week, Dec. 14, 2006). Coupled with strategies he has collected from around the world, Dr. Kern teaches how to identify error and violation producing conditions and various mental bias traps that lead to maintenance and logistical errors. Additionally, you will learn how to create personal and organizational “error reduction centers of gravity” (ERCG) and how to develop and implement individual, team and organization process checks and procedures to attack these hazardous error zones putting your aircraft and aircrew at risk, and often rob your bottom line.

Enhancing Service Culture in Today’s Maintenance World
Presented by Bob Hobbi, ServiceElements International, Inc.
Our industry is changing. And with it, our customers and constituency are also changing. We are facing a greater diversity in technology and equipment as well as a much greater diversity of our customer base. These market and industry factors are having a profound effect on our ability to serve internal and external customers, regardless of the type of organizations. This session will provide Attendees with insight to the resulting service delivery challenges. Strategic solutions will be discussed which should help Attendees address these modern day challenges. Whether you are operating as a Part 91 business flight department; a Part 135 or 121 or 145; a service center; a completion center; or a technical representative, you will be facing these new challenges. The benefits of this presentation will be enlightening and helpful.

Are you Smarter than a…- Part 1
For your entertainment as well as your enlightenment, Gulfstream has graciously allowed us the use of its “Audience Response System” which the Maintenance Committee is incorporating into a game to be played throughout the conference. The purpose of this exercise is not only to inform you about the vendors who have joined us but also assist you in making the most of your time while visiting the exhibit hall by knowing who to visit and what is available. Each exhibitor has been asked to submit a question regarding his company – in order to find the answer to that question you must visit the exhibitor at this booth. Questions will be asked when the group reassembles for the sessions. Put your newly found memory skills to work and win valuable prizes for your efforts! |

Cactus Rolling – Coping With Life’s
Thorniest Problems
Dr. Stephen Douglass, Ohio State University
People remember stories more than they do statistics. In this presentation, Dr. Douglass tells a story with a single point. It is an important but simple point, and sometimes it is the simple things that are the most difficult to accept. People suffer very little stress from reality, yet they do great harm to themselves with their imagery. If stress is to be reduced, we must change their imagery from catastrophe to reality. We must learn to avoid “cactus rolling.” |
