Conference Description

Participate in NBAA’s Financial Risk Management Seminar to learn about the basics of aviation insurance and how to handle complex risk management issues and situations you may encounter while operating an aircraft. The seminar will help you understand your aviation insurance contract, your role in managing risk and how you can minimize your financial risk exposure.

This conference is held in conjunction with NBAA’s Tax & Regulatory Forum, taking place on Friday, January 23, 2004.

This session will review various aspects of financial risk management and define terms that will be used throughout the seminar. Included will be an overview of internal risk management, strategic risk management, operational risk management, financial / insurance considerations and informational risks.

Insurance 101
Understand your aviation insurance contract and learn about the types of coverage available for your operations. This presentation will review critical components of aviation insurance, including liability (property and people), limitations and the claims process.

Representatives from aviation insurance underwriters will discuss financial risk management issues, from their perspective. Topics to be addressed include charter operations, single pilot flying, contract pilots, terrorism and war risk insurance, audits, and international operation considerations.

Special Topics: Emergency Response Planning and Security
Are you prepared to handle an emergency should the situation arise? The session will review recommended steps for emergency response planning as well as security issues, such as working with TSA during a security audit.

Protecting Your Assets: Corporate Structure vs. Insurance
Can you carry less liability insurance coverage by structuring your aircraft ownership and operations in a separate entity? If the entity is a single-purpose flight department company operating the aircraft under FAR Part 91, will your insurance coverage still apply?

4:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Interactive Presentation: Roles of the Insurance Broker, Underwriter, Risk Manager, Attorney
Bringing together the risk management topics addressed throughout the day, NBAA’s risk management experts will apply aspects from each area in an interactive, practical situation, while demonstrating effective working relationships between the primary aviation financial risk management decision-makers.

Attending both the NBAA Aviation Insurance & Financial Risk Management Seminar and the NBAA Tax and Regulatory Forum provides a maximum of 8.5 hours of recommended continuing education (CPE) credits. In accordance with the standards of the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, CPE credits have been granted based on a 50-minute hour.

NBAA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Substitutions/Cancellations

A full refund less 10 percent processing fee will be made for cancellations received in writing prior to Friday, January 23, 2004. NBAA understands the last minute nature of corporate aviation and has allowed as much flexibility as possible. However, there will be NO REFUNDS AFTER Friday, January 23, 2004. All requests must be received in writing or by fax to (202) 862-5552. Postmark or fax transmission date will determine date of cancellation. If you are unable to attend and wish to send another representative from your company, simply fax the name of your replacement.
