Enthusiasm High at NBAA's 17th Annual Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference

An upbeat crowd was on hand today for a luncheon address by NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen, the featured speaker for the second day of NBAA's 17th Annual Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference. Bolen's remarks focused on legislative issues affecting the business aviation community, and the role schedulers and dispatchers can play in making their Congressional representatives aware of the industry's concerns.

A record-breaking 2,200 Attendees and 322 Exhibitors are present at this year's event. This Conference, NBAA's largest, gives business aviation schedulers and dispatchers the most up-to-date information on issues related to their role in corporate flight departments. Bolen Tells Schedulers to Make Their Voices Heard in Congress

Noting that the FAA is on the verge of unveiling a new aviation system funding mechanism based on user fees that will quadruple the taxes paid by business aviation, NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen told schedulers and dispatchers that they need to contact their Congressional representatives and tell them “we care about these issues.”

NBAA Announces Recipient of 2006 Canadian Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarship

NBAA and its Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee today granted $5,000 in scholarship funds to an individual seeking to advance her aviation career through continuing education. Shell Aviation Canada was the sole sponsor for this scholarship specifically for Canadian schedulers and dispatchers.

NBAA Announces Recipients of 2006 Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarship

NBAA and its Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee granted $40,000 in scholarship funds to nine individuals seeking to advance their aviation careers through continuing education. Eight corporate sponsors each contributed $5,000 to the 2006 NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarship: ExxonMobil and the Avitats, Signature Flight Support, Universal Weather and Aviation, ChevronTexaco Global Aviation, Atlantic Aviation, Air BP Aviation Services, Jeppesen DataPlan and Jet Aviation.

Kranz Recounts Apollo 13 Drama for Schedulers & Dispatchers
January 25, 2006
Gene Kranz, the retired NASA director of mission operations, used his keynote address at the NBAA 17th Annual Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference in San Antonio today to recall how he and his ground-based support team helped save the astronauts of Apollo 13 after their spacecraft was disabled on the way to the Moon in 1970. He also told the hundreds of schedulers and dispatchers who attended the Opening General Session of the Conference that they often serve in a similar role and are, in effect, the “mission control” for business aviation operations.
