Security Session Helps Flight Departments Assess Risks
Savannah, GA, January 31, 2008 – Security should be a top priority for business aviation flight departments, which are continually faced with risks at home and on the road. This morning’s session “Matching Your Security Equipment to the Threat” helped flight department managers assess those risks and learn how to deal with them effectively.
The information-packed session placed an emphasis on first determining a flight department’s security threats. Tom Winn, senior chief of operations and intelligence for ASI Group recommends getting a quality threat and vulnerability assessment to look at the entire organization, to look for vulnerability at home and away, and make recommendations that are matched to identified vulnerabilities, which might include types of equipment used and how that equipment can help.
Additional considerations involve responsibility for a flight department’s perimeter security, burglary and trespassing, and types of controls, which include access control, proximity cards and ID badges, smart keys, magnetic locks, electronic strikes, intrusion detection and keys and locks. It is crucial that flight departments regularly take stock of keys issued to various personnel within an organization.
