Session Gives Attendees Conflict-Resolution Skills

Savannah, GA, February 1, 2008 – Scheduling and dispatching often can be challenging and overwhelming, and today’s session “Conflict Resolution & Stress Management,” presented by Bob Hobbi of ServiceElements International, Inc., provided ways for industry professionals to alleviate conflict, thereby reducing stress and creating a better work environment.

In this group-oriented, hands-on session, Attendees were asked to complete a conflict resolution style assessment, followed by a discussion of which style is best.

“Now that you know about different conflict styles, an important question to answer is: Why do conflicts occur in my workplace?” Hobbi asked, adding that conflict is primarily relationship related or job related, such as disagreement on who should do a job or task, or as a result of limited resources.

Three common conflict resolution strategies were offered, including negotiation/collaboration, training and prioritizing company goals, and participants volunteered additional strategies that could be applied in certain situations.

The seminar, intended to give Attendees information to use both professionally and personally, concluded with a discussion of ways to implement these concepts and asserting that “your ability to productively resolve conflict is important because it reduces stress for you, your internal customers and your external customers.”
