NBAA's career development resources for business aviation professionals include:
Programs
NBAA Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Program
The Certified Aviation Manager Program identifies qualified professionals to lead flight departments and companies using business aircraft. The certification process tests individuals for knowledge and experience in five subject areas: leadership, personnel management, operations, technical and facilities services, and business management. NBAA and the business aviation community acknowledge Certified Aviation Managers as professionals who have reached a distinct level of industry knowledge. To start the certification process, individuals must first qualify to take the CAM Exam by submitting an application. Learn more at www.nbaa.org/cam.
NBAA Professional Development Program (PDP)
NBAA’s Professional Development Program prepares business aviation professionals for management roles within flight departments. Individuals receive recognition for successfully completing PDP-approved courses. Any person who occupies or aspires to a management position in a company involved with business aviation is a potential candidate. As an offshoot of the Association's main Professional Development Program, NBAA's Schedulers Professional Development Program (SPDP) provides course offerings designed to meet the needs of schedulers and dispatchers. Taking PDP classes – while not a prerequisite for becoming a Certified Aviation Manager – is an excellent way to prepare for the CAM application process. Learn more about PDP and SPDP at www.nbaa.org/pdp.
NBAA Standards of Excellence in Business Aviation (SEBA) Program
NBAA developed the Standards of Excellence in Business Aviation (SEBA) Program to encourage continuing education practices within the business aviation community. SEBA provides a career path checklist that is easy to follow. Recommended training levels are outlined for fixed-wing flightcrew, rotor-wing flighcrew, maintenance, flight attendant/flight technician, scheduler/dispatcher and ground support personnel. Following the SEBA Program – while not a prerequisite for becoming a Certified Aviation Manager – is an excellent way to prepare for the CAM application process. Learn more at www.nbaa.org/seba.

Student Mentoring
Business Aviation Internship Programs
Undergraduate student internships are perhaps the best way to introduce aviation students to careers in business aviation. Through internships, a company flight department provides exciting work in business aviation and a rewarding learning experience for young professionals, who are the industry's future. Companies participating as internship program hosts also gain many benefits. NBAA provides business aviation internship program information as a guide for Members interested in participating in such programs (now updated for 2008). Learn more.
Collegiate Outreach Efforts
NBAA and its Corporate Aviation Management Committee (CAMC) support outreach efforts to teach college students about business aviation career opportunities. As part of this effort, NBAA and the University Aviation Association (UAA) annually invite college students to attend a "Reaching Future Business Aviation Professionals" career seminar during the NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention. For more information, contact NBAA's Jay Evans at jevans@nbaa.org.
