Certified Aviation Manager (CAM)
NBAA has developed a certification process for business aviation managers to promote the interest of flight departments and companies using business aircraft by identifying qualified individuals. A CAM is defined as an individual who has met specified qualifications and has passed the Certified Aviation Manager Exam.

 

PDP: Preparing Aviation Professionals for Management Roles

NBAA offers a Professional Development Program (PDP) to prepare business aviation professionals for management roles within business aviation flight departments.

NBAA recognizes educational providers by offering NBAA PDP approval for courses that meet defined PDP objectives. Flight department personal receive recognition for successfully completing PDP-approved courses. Since its launch in January 1998, there have been over 5,000 PDP course completions.

Any person who occupies or aspires to a management position in a company involved with business aviation is a potential candidate. The skills needed to be an effective manager are the same, regardless of a person's specialty background and are important business skills whatever your future goals may be. Maintenance personnel, line service personnel, schedulers and dispatchers, flight attendants, supervisory pilots – all would be good candidates for management training.

Review the PDP curriculum objectives which guide educational providers in the development of courses relating to the management of part or all of a corporate flight department.

PDP Approval Checklist and Guidance for Potential Providers (93KB, PDF)
Guidance from the NBAA PDP Education Committee for educational providers seeking to the get their course recognized as an approved NBAA PDP course. The Committee is made up of business aviation management practitioners and experienced collegiate aviation educators.

PDP Course Proposal Application (200KB, PDF)
Educational providers must complete this form to submit course for review by the NBAA PDP Education Committee.

NBAA Seeking Presenters for 2009 PDP and SPDP Courses

NBAA has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking presenters for Professional Development Program (PDP) and Schedulers Professional Development Program (SPDP) Courses to be offered in 2009. NBAA's PDP was developed to prepare business aviation professionals for management roles within business aviation flight departments. Only providers of current PDP or SPDP courses are eligible to submit their courses for the RFP. Responses must be received by May 15, 2008.  For more information, contact NBAA’s Jay Evans at jevans@nbaa.org.
