This year, for the first time, NBAA joined Bombardier and the FAA in support
of the 10th Annual Safety Standdown, a multi-day event focused on improving
business aviation safety. Held October 4 and 5 in Wichita, KS, with optional
workshops held on October 2 and 3, the event brought together aircraft
operators and safety experts in industry and government for a series of
briefings that integrated knowledge-based training with skill-based
training. Sessions topics included the "global war on error," fatigue
countermeasures, runway incursions, aircraft icing, advanced aerodynamics
and airborne weather radar.
The 10th Annual Safety Standdown drew 460 Attendees, with many more on a
waiting list, setting the stage for growth in 2007. Following the success of
the 2006 event, NBAA has committed to participate in Safety Standdown for
the next 10 years.
