NBAA Announces Journalism Award Winners
Washington, DC, November 19, 1996 - The National Business Aircraft Association (NBAA)
has presented its 1996 Gold Wing Award For Reporting Excellence to David Esler, Overhaul &
Maintenance, and Jack Elliott, The Star-Legder. Both awards were presented at the Kickoff
Media Breakfast at NBAA's 49th Annual Meeting & Convention in Orlando, Florida. In addition,
the Association presented a special Platinum Wing Award to James Holahan, Aviation International
News, for lifetime achievement in journalism.
The NBAA Gold Wing Award is presented annually for excellent, accurate and insightful reporting
on issues related to business aviation, by trade or non-trade media, in either print or broadcast
formats. The Award recognizes journalism's important role in reporting the significant contributions
of business aviation to the national economy. Applications for the 1997 NBAA Gold Wing Award
are available through NBAA at (202) 783-9000. The Platinum Wing Award recipient is selected
by NBAA Officials based on lifetime achievement.
NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 4,300 companies which own or operate general
aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business
aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues in excess of $3 trillion - a number that
is about half the gross national product - and employ more than 16 million people worldwide.
