NBAA Announces 1998 Journalism Award Winners
Washington, DC, October 19, 1998 - The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA)
has presented its 1998 Gold Wing Award For Reporting Excellence to Randall Padfield of Aviation
International News and Peter Greenberg and Conway Cliff for their business aviation story
on CNBC. Both awards were presented today at the Kickoff Media Breakfast at NBAA's 51st Annual
Meeting & Convention in Las Vegas. In addition, the Association presented a special Platinum
Wing Award to Charles Spence for lifetime achievement in journalism
The NBAA Gold Wing Award is presented annually for excellent, accurate and insightful reporting
on issues related to business aviation, by trade or non-trade media, in either print or broadcast
formats. The Award recognizes journalism's important role in reporting the significant contributions
of business aviaiton to the nation's economy and air transportation system

For the 1999 Awards, stories must appear in print or on air between June 30, 1998, and June
30, 1999. Winners will receive a $1,000 honorarium, as well as travel and hotel accommodations
for the 52nd Annual Meeting & Convention, October 12-14, 1999, in Atlanta
The Platinum Wing Award Award recipient is selected by NBAA officials based on lifetime achivement.
NBAA represents the aviation interests of over 5,600 companies which own or operate general
aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business
aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues in excess of $4 trillion – a number
that is about half the gross domestic product – and employ more than 19 million people
