Contact: Cassandra Bosco

Washington, DC, December 12, 2001 - The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) presented its journalism awards this morning during its Kickoff Media Breakfast on the opening day of the NBAA 54th Annual Meeting & Convention in New Orleans. Bob Parrish received the 2001 Platinum Wing Award, which recognizes excellence and lifetime achievement in journalism. Chad Trautvetter and Cynthia Wilson both received Gold Wing Awards, which are presented annually for excellent, accurate and insightful reporting of issues related to the business aviation industry.

Parrish, a noted aviation journalist, was with Business and Commercial Aviation Magazine for nearly 15 years, specializing in helicopter, powerplant and maintenance issues. Trautvetter of Aviation International News received the Gold Wing Award in the aviation trade category, while Wilson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch received the award in the non-trade category for her article on the business aviation industry.

Applications for the 2002 NBAA Gold Wing Awards, which will be presented for articles or stories that appear in print, online, or on the air from June 15, 2001, to June 15, 2002, are now available. The deadline for submissions is July 15, 2002. For a copy of the application, please contact NBAA at (202) 783-9260.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of nearly 7,000 companies which own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world's largest display of civil aviation products and services.
