Contact: Cassandra Bosco

Orlando, FL, October 7, 2003 – The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) presented its journalism awards this morning during its Kickoff Media Breakfast on the opening day of the NBAA 56th Annual Meeting & Convention.

Gordon Gilbert, chief news editor of Aviation International News, received the 2003 Platinum Wing Award, which recognizes excellence and lifetime achievement in journalism.

NBAA also awarded its 2003 Gold Wing Award, which is presented annually for excellent, accurate and insightful reporting of issues related to the business aviation industry. In the trade press category, Kerry Lynch received the Gold Wing Award for her story on the closing of Reagan Washington National Airport to general aviation aircraft, which appeared in Business & Commercial Aviation. In the national press category, the Chicago Tribune received the Gold Wing Award for its coverage of the closure of Meigs Field.

Applications for the 2004 NBAA Gold Wing Awards, which will be presented for articles or stories that appear in print, online, or on the air from June 15, 2003, to June 15, 2004, soon will be available on the NBAA web site at www.nbaa.org/awards. The deadline for submissions is July 15, 2004.

NBAA represents the aviation interests of more than 7,300 companies that own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion — a number that is about half the gross domestic product — and employ more than 19 million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the world's largest display of civil aviation products and services.
